Description

The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to join the Finance Department. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and be based at Head Office.

Job Responsibilities

- Recommend and implement finance strategies and policies

- Develop and implement accounting systems and internal control procedures

- Review and approve financial accounts and reports

- Facilitate and manage the external audit process

- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations

- Determine cut-off periods for financial reports

- Provide advice on accounting and internal control procedures

- Manage working capital

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports

- Participate in budget preparation and supplier contract drafting

- Supervise and develop staff

Skills and Abilities

- Excellent knowledge of SAP Accounting Software

- Good knowledge of IFRS/IAS

- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills

- Accuracy with figures

- High degree of initiative

- Team player

Educational Qualification

- 5 'O' levels, including English Language and Mathematics

- Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent

- Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (added advantage)

- Professional qualification in Accounting (CIMA/ACCA/CA/CIS) (added advantage)

- 3 years' experience in a similar role
