- Management of the smooth running of the Spatial Planning Department
- Advising council on development and management issues
- Preparing state land layout plans and reports for industrial, commercial and residential development in terms of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12)
- Ensuring compliance with public and private facilities in the Council area
- Preparing and commenting on master and local plans for centres or district in terms of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12)
- Carrying out or commenting on planning research as well as planning legislation, planning policy and planning standards
- Performing any other planning and administrative duties assigned by the Town Secretary
Director of Housing and Community Services
- Council housing planning and estate management
- Educational planning, development and management of council schools in liaison with the Ministry of Education
- Coordinating the implementation of council Community Services programs
- Providing technical support to the Town Secretary on all housing, health, education and Community Service programs in the Council
- Supervising and coordinating activities in the department
Qualifications and Experience for Director of Spatial Planning and Land Management:
- Adherence to Rural and Urban Planning
- Membership of the relevant institute
- Masters in Urban Planning will be an added advantage
- 5 years experience of Senior post preferably in the Local Government
- At least 35 years and above
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills
- Adequate record of service within the Local Government fraternity
- Academic Class 4 driver's license
Qualifications and Experience for Director of Housing and Community Services:
- A Social Science degree from a reputable institution
- A master's degree in Administration, Public Management, Strategic Management or Governance will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 6 years managerial experience with not less than 3 years at senior level preferably in a Local Authority
- Experience in housing delivery, education, health or other social service delivery programs in a Local Authority highly desirable
- A results oriented person with high need to achieve and contribute to the development targets of Chiredzi Town
- A mature communicator with good interpersonal skills, able to interact at all levels and produce analytical management reports
- A strategic thinker capable of long term planning and effective problem solving
- An astute team player with demonstrable leadership and innovation qualities
- Computer literate and should have a clean Class 4 driver's license
- No criminal record
